The Intersectoral Group for the Prevention and Investigation of Homicides of Children and Adolescents, together with Fundación Amparo y Justicia, invites you to take part in a series of webinars featuring leading international speakers who will share experiences and lessons learned on the investigation and prevention of child deaths in the United Kingdom.
The first session, titled “Child Death Review Teams in the United Kingdom: Lessons for Multi-Agency Investigation”, will take place on Thursday, October 16 at 12:00 p.m. (Chile time) and will be led by Dr. Joanna Garstang, pediatrician and Associate Professor at the University of Birmingham. She serves as the designated doctor for child deaths in Birmingham and Solihull and has led research on multi-agency child death reviews and mortality prevention. She is currently President of the Association of Child Death Review Professionals and an advisor to the UK’s National Child Mortality Database.
The second webinar, ‘From Errors to Learning: Contributions of Forensic Pediatrics and the Kennedy Protocol in the United Kingdom’, will take place on Friday, November 21 at 12:00 p.m. (Chile). It will feature Dr. Marta Cohen, Pediatric Pathologist, Head of the Department of Histopathology at Sheffield Children’s Hospital, and Honorary Professor at the University of Sheffield. With an extensive background in research on unexpected child deaths (SIDS/SUDC), Dr. Cohen is currently Vice President of the Royal College of Pathologists and an international reference in protocols for the review of child deaths.
This series is part of the collaborative work carried out by the eleven institutions that make up the intersectoral group, with the aim of sharing progress, good practices, and reflections on the prevention and investigation of child homicides, while strengthening coordination and learning among the various actors involved.
