On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the implementation of Law 21.057 — which regulates videotaped interviews (EIV) with children and adolescents — the PDI of Valdivia convened an interinstitutional event bringing together key actors from the local protection system.
The event included the participation of Fundación Amparo y Justicia, represented by researcher Carolina Pavez and psychologist Maísa Valdivia, from the Advocacy and Public Policy directorate. Both presented on the role the Foundation played in advocating for the approval and implementation of this law, and outlined the main challenges, critical bottlenecks, and good practices identified over these five years in force.
The event also brought together representatives from the Regional Unit for Victim and Witness Support (URAVIT), SERNAMEG, the Valdivia Videotaped Investigative Interview Center (CEIV), and the NGO Our Rescue, creating a space for interinstitutional dialogue on progress made and pending tasks in this area.
“It was a very interesting event, where we were able to learn more about the local reality surrounding the implementation of the EIV. The gathering brought together different institutions that were able to speak to the advances and good practices, but also to the challenges and areas for improvement. These spaces are important because they allow us to have conversations with institutions about the critical bottlenecks and how to continue strengthening this public policy,” said Carolina Pavez.
