As part of the 5th International Congress of the Sociedad Chilena de Criminología (SOCHICRIM), Federica Pinter, psychologist from the Psychosocial Intervention area at Amparo y Justicia, presented the talk “An interdisciplinary intervention model for co-victims of child sexual homicide: challenges and lessons learned.”
During her presentation, she shared the comprehensive intervention model that Fundación Amparo y Justicia provides to families who have lost a son or daughter due to a sexual assault in the context of a homicide.
The session addressed the guiding principles and approaches that inform the foundation’s three lines of work—legal, psychosocial, and communications—as well as the stages of the model and the simultaneous actions coordinated by the three teams.
“Spaces like this are essential to make good practices visible, share experiences, and strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration in the protection of children,” said psychologist Federica Pinter.
During the same session, two other presentations were given:
- “Why are cases of sexual crimes against children and adolescents dismissed?” by Jorge Lavandero, deputy attorney at the Centro Norte Prosecutor’s Office.
- “Normalized violence and childhood in confinement in Chile: a study of the Chilean closed juvenile regime from an inclusion and gender perspective,” presented by Cristhian Orellana, workshop facilitator and counselor at the Closed Regime Center in Tiltil.
The session concluded with a Q&A segment, where the three experts addressed questions and shared experiences with attendees, reinforcing the importance of collaboration among different actors in the prevention, investigation, and support of cases involving violence against children and adolescents.
