Members of the Foundation’s board and team attended a course on child homicide investigations and the 41st San Diego International Conference on Child and Family Maltreatment, one of the main international forums on child abuse.
In this context, the Amparo y Justicia Foundation team participated in the Child Homicide Investigations course, delivered by the National Criminal Justice Training Center of Fox Valley Technical College. This specialized training makes it possible to continue promoting improvements in the investigation of homicides of children and adolescents, in line with international standards and best practices in the field.
Likewise, this week the Foundation participated in the 41st San Diego International Conference on Child and Family Maltreatment, organized by the Chadwick Center, one of the main international spaces for training, analysis, and coordination around child abuse and child protection.
As part of the conference, Amparo y Justicia’s Deputy Director of Legal Affairs and Public Policy Advocacy, María José Bowen, together with the Head of Strategy and Communications, Patricia Le-Bert, presented the Foundation’s Comprehensive Intervention Model, sharing the experience of interdisciplinary work that integrates legal, psychosocial, and communications dimensions. The presentation took place at one of the main international conferences on child abuse held in San Diego, United States.
During the visit, the Foundation’s team also held a strategic working meeting with Dr. Patricio Frias, Co-CEO of Rady Children’s Hospital; Payal Beam, Vice President; and Golby Rahimi Saylor, Executive Director of the Chadwick Center, with the aim of strengthening the exchange of experiences and exploring opportunities for future collaboration.
Finally, an institutional visit to the Chadwick Center was carried out, which made it possible to deepen ties and learn first-hand about its model of work in the prevention, investigation, and response to child abuse.
