On December 19, 2011, the United Nations General Assembly approved a third Optional Protocol related to the communications procedure (OPIC), which allows children to submit individual complaints regarding specific violations of their rights, under the Convention on the Rights of the Child and its other two Optional Protocols, relating to the involvement of children in armed conflict (OPAC) and the sale of children, child prostitution, and the use of children in pornography (OPSC). This third Protocol entered into force in Chile in December 2015.
