The recent approval of the law to strengthen the Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office marks a milestone for the criminal justice system, 25 years after its establishment in our country. This reform modernizes the institution and reinforces its integrity standards, with the aim of advancing toward more effective and transparent criminal prosecution. <\/p>\n

For victims and their families, this change represents a positive and necessary signal. A timely and effective investigation not only reduces impunity and helps prevent future crimes, but also constitutes a concrete form of reparation. <\/p>\n

However, this progress is not enough. Strengthening the Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office must be accompanied by a substantive improvement in criminal investigation standards, especially in the most serious crimes, such as homicides against children and adolescents. <\/p>\n

In this regard, together with the Prosecutor\u2019s Office and ten other public institutions, we have promoted the Intersectoral Group for the Prevention and Investigation of Homicides of Children and Adolescents, aimed at strengthening interinstitutional coordination and proposing concrete improvements to enhance the handling and resolution of these cases. Progress in this area requires broad political support, recognizing that this is a challenge for the State as a whole. <\/p>\n

More resources and better tools allow for a more timely and consistent response. Continuing these efforts is essential to ensure effective access to justice and to reaffirm the institutional commitment to victims and their families. <\/p>\n
