The Rules on Access to Justice for Vulnerable Persons were approved at the XIV Ibero-American Judicial Summit, which took place in Brasília in March 2008. Their goal is to guarantee effective access to justice for vulnerable persons, without any discrimination, encompassing a set of policies, measures, facilities, and support that allow these individuals to fully enjoy the services of the judicial system. Regarding judicial proceedings in which children and adolescents participate, it is established that their age and overall development must be taken into account, mandating the holding of hearings in special rooms and the use of simple language, among other measures.
