The Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child aims to expand the measures that State Parties must adopt to ensure the protection of children and adolescents from the sale of children, child prostitution, and the use of children in pornography. This protocol was approved by the United Nations General Assembly on May 25, 2000, and ratified by Chile on September 6, 2003, through Decree 225 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
