The NICHD protocol is a structured investigative interview protocol, based on scientific evidence, developed to obtain statements from children and adolescents who are victims of crimes. It guides interviewers through the different phases of the interview, helping them avoid questions that could contaminate the testimony. To date, there are nearly 25 versions in different languages. The latest version adapted to Spanish is from 2011. In Chile, it is used under Law 21.057 by professionals responsible for conducting videotaped investigative interviews with children and adolescents who are victims of sexual and other serious crimes.
