The document standardizes the care, expert assessment, and handling of evidence for individuals who have suffered sexual violence, through the definition of a single procedure for all professionals and technicians involved in the process. Its aim is to establish the foundations for guaranteeing comprehensive care for victims of sexual violence, promoting respectful treatment, preventing secondary victimization, and encouraging the conduct of high-quality expert assessments that can later be used in criminal proceedings. The document is intended for professionals and technicians working with victims in the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Forensic Medical Service, and Health Services, providing guidelines to strengthen coordination and collaboration within the service network.
In 2020, Resolution 2938 was published, which ‘Approves the general technical standard for the care of child and adolescent victims of sexual violence for its application in the national forensic medical service as indicated.’ The regulation updated the document in accordance with changes introduced by Law 21.057.
