For almost two decades, Fundación Amparo y Justicia has worked to improve the taking of statements from children and adolescents victims of sexual crimes, seeking to avoid secondary victimization. This work culminated in the enactment of Law 21.057 and the implementation of the Investigative Interview. In collaboration with Fundación Paz Ciudadana, they evaluated the impact of this technic through a quasi-experimental design, concluding that the Investigative Interview significantly increases the probability of formalization, sentencing and conviction without lengthening judicial processes. However, its effectiveness is lower with younger children, evidencing the need for tailored approaches and specialized training. These results support the importance of further strengthening Investigative Interview to ensure effective and respectful access to justice for children and adolescents.
