The document systematizes the most recent evidence on the phenomenology of sexual assaults against minors under 18 years old, information that helps to understand the reasons for variations in the disclosure timelines required by the victims of such crimes. The technical foundations provided are primarily based on information and recommendations from internationally recognized academics and researchers, who have participated in seminars organized by the Amparo y Justicia Foundation, as well as in the Diploma Program “The Rights of Children and Adolescents Victims of Sexual Crimes and the Judicial System,” which has been offered since 2014 by our organization in collaboration with the Faculty of Law at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.
