The violation with homicide of girls, boys, and adolescents is one of the most severe crimes, with the findings from the autopsy study providing the most crucial information for the investigative and prosecutorial process. This study reviews the most recent medical literature and available guidelines for forensic professionals addressing these cases, finding that unfortunately, such resources are scarce, making it difficult to develop evidence-based protocols to guide forensic procedures. A close reference is the evidence available for homicides due to gender-based violence in cases involving girls and adolescents, but with limited applicability to male minors. It is recommended to systematize thanatological examinations applied in sexual homicides committed against minors, identifying the most frequent bodily findings, the recommended forensic procedures, and their usefulness for the judicial process.
Study prepared by Sebastián González, a specialist in legal medicine, and commissioned by Fundación Amparo y Justicia.
