The Advocacy Model of the Amparo and Justice Foundation

In 2007, Fundación Amparo y Justicia added to its mission the prevention of secondary victimization of children and adolescents (CNA) who are victims of sexual crimes, after which it carried out a series of interinstitutional actions to promote a law on videorecorded interviews. In January 2018, Law 21.057 was approved. Over these years, the Foundation developed specific knowledge in terms of secondary victimization, childhood, and adolescence, as a relevant example of the capacity of civil society organizations to produce impactful participation in public policies. This document systematizes the actions developed by the Foundation over this decade. It presents the five main lines of work that shape the advocacy model for public policy of Amparo y Justicia, the perception of external actors about the Foundation’s contributions, as well as the main pending challenges.
