American Convention on Human Rights (San José Pact)

The American Convention on Human Rights, also known as the “Pact of San José, Costa Rica,” was signed on November 22, 1969, and ratified by Chile on January 5, 1991, through Decree 873, granting competence to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. The instrument establishes a personal freedom regime in the American states based on the respect for the essential rights of the individual. Its Article 19 refers to the rights of children and adolescents.
