Amparo y Justicia team provides training to lawyers from the National Institute of Human Rights

  • 8 de August de 2025

Fundación Amparo y Justicia participated in the event with a training session focused on the Law on Videorecorded Investigative Interviews.

The team from Fundación Amparo y Justicia was invited to take part in the National Meeting of Regional Lawyers, organized by the Protection of Rights and Citizen Assistance departments of the National Institute of Human Rights (INDH, its Spanish acronym).

The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the technical capacities of the Institute’s regional legal teams, with a focus on human rights protection and specific guidelines for assisting individuals from groups requiring special protection. In this context, key tools were presented to improve victim assistance processes and ensure proper standards in both administrative and judicial settings. In this context, key tools were presented to improve victim assistance processes and ensure proper standards in both administrative and judicial settings.

Representing Fundación Amparo y Justicia, Carolina Pavez, sociologist and researcher, together with psychologist Hans Eichhorns, delivered a presentation titled “Law 21.057 on Videorecorded Investigative Interviews”. They discussed the law’s key articles, its implications for the reporting and investigation of sexual offenses against children and adolescents, and the challenges of its implementation in Chile.

“The presentation also included findings from research we’ve conducted on the law’s impact in terms of criminal prosecution. We shared data analysis on complaints, formal charges, convictions, and sentencing, which reinforces the value of this technique and allows INDH legal teams to consider its strategic use in their role as plaintiffs,” explained Carolina Pavez.

Fundación Amparo y Justicia expressed its appreciation for the opportunity to collaborate with the INDH in integrating specialized standards that strengthen access to justice and ensure dignified support for victims—particularly in cases involving children and adolescents.
