With a strong turnout, the sixth session of the Intersectoral Group for the Prevention and Investigation of Homicides of Children and Adolescents was held at the premises of the National Prosecutor’s Office.
Representatives from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Chilean Investigative Police (PDI), Carabineros de Chile, Legal Medical Service, Undersecretariat for Crime Prevention, National Service for Specialized Child and Adolescent Protection, Undersecretariat for Children, Office of the Children’s Ombudsperson, Judiciary, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, and Fundación Amparo y Justicia met once again with the aim of identifying areas of cooperation, information flows, and levels of interagency coordination to prevent and investigate suspicious deaths and homicides of children and adolescents.
Alejandra Vera, attorney from the Specialized Unit on Adolescent Criminal Responsibility and Violent Crimes at the National Prosecutor’s Office, stated that “for the Public Prosecutor’s Office, participating in this working group is essential. It allows us to coordinate actions with key institutions such as the Investigative Police (PDI), the Legal Medical Service (SML), and Carabineros in order to improve the investigation and criminal prosecution of homicides against children and adolescents. Our goal is to act effectively, prevent these crimes, and provide timely reparation to the victims.”
